Best holiday destinations to visit for each month of the year revealed

There are endless factors to consider when planning a holiday from weather to cost.

The time of year can rule out, or rule in, certain holiday destinations. If you're looking for a sunny holiday, it's best to avoid Scotland in winter, for example.

MoneyTransfers.com has revealed the best destination based on time of year you take your trip away. Factors include the weather, business and sun data.

In January it's best to visit Bangkok. That's because grey skies loom most cities in January, however in Bangkok it's much sunnier with an average of 272.5 sunshine hours.

The temperature also averages at around 26.5C, which is perfect for tourists wanting to explore the wonders of the city in all their glory by foot, without breaking out too much of a sweat. Aside from the weather, the day-to-day costs such as accommodation and food is considerably cheaper than other cities.

In February Mexico City comes out on top. That's because it's another warm location, with temperatures of up to 22.9C. It is also Mexico's low season, so not only can tourists enjoy the brighter days but they can also enjoy the quieter attractions and make your way down the bucket list.

Cape Town is revealed as the best destination in March. With South Africa's summer months draw to an end around this time of year, tourists can enjoy milder temperatures in Cape Town, which can often be much more pleasant than the hottest days.

At this time, the city is in it's low season, so people can also take advantage of the cheaper prices, with the average daily cost at $80.

Tokyo is awarded the best place to visit in April. While the weather is cooler at 18C, the cherry blossoms that decorate the city far outweigh the handful of rainy days.

In May, New York is a good option. The weather at this time of year is ideal for strolling through Central Park. And on the days there is rain, there is no better place to be, with endless shops for your perusal to provide you some shelter.

The 256.6 hours of sunlight makes it possible for tourists to visit all their favourite attractions and see the sun setting over the skyline of the city.

When it's summer in Britain, in June, it's best to visit Copenhagen. It has an impressive 260 average hours of sunshine and being the low season, it means that tourists can enjoy the man-made beaches, scenic canals, and the Tivoli Gardens without the hustle and bustle of the peak season.

In July, Medellin, in Colombia, South America is described as being the best place to holiday. In summer it endures its low season, likely due to the fact that there's more rainy days.

However, as a tropical destination this is to expected and the city still enjoys highs of up 27.6C. The average daily cost averages incredibly low at $56 so tourists can lap up the local delicacies the city has on offer without worrying about spending a fortune.

In August, Rio de Janeiro also experiences its low season. Although it is not summer in Rio de Janerio in August, the temperatures of up to 25.6C are more than satisfactory for those used to much milder climates.

Paris is named the best place to travel in September. The lower, yet warm temperatures in Paris in September makes it a great time to visit as tourists can make their way through their sight-seeing itinerary without struggling in the heat.

Similarly, Barcelona is great to visit in October. The low season also means that popular tourist spots such as Camp Nou will be less crowded, resulting in a much more relaxing visit for holiday makers.

Australia is in the midst of its winter holidays come November, but with temperatures of between 16.3C and 23.8C it’s more akin to summer in many countries. Despite boasting 241.8 average hours of sunshine, the Australian city is still very much in its low season which means lower prices, minimal crowds and no queues for attractions.

Dubai is best in December with temperatures cooler at this time of year, it makes it a prime time to visit as the summer months can be unbearably hot for tourists. Although it is high travel season, Dubai is a destination which is expensive all year round, so best to focus on other factors such as the pleasant weather.
