John Torode heaped praise on an Italian restaurant in Merseyside.
The BBC Masterchef host is currently in the region to perform a live cookery session at the Southport Flower Show. Away from the kitchen, John is married to Lisa Faulkner, who played Louise Hope in Brookside.
Lisa triumphed in Celebrity Masterchef in 2010 and has since forged a succesful career as television chef. The married couple host John and Lisa's weekend kitchen together and she is also in Merseyside to perform a cookery session at the Southport Flower Show.

The two have been blown away by Merseyside's culinary scene as they followed up a recommendation to try out Sorrento's in Formby. In a clip shared on Instagram, Lisa said: "Southport already doesn't disappoint. Because we went to our hotel and this lovely man told us to go to this restaurant which is just down the road in Formby called Sorrento.
"He said you'll have the best Italian. Well we've had the most delicious dinner. If anyone… well I'm sure anybody who lives around here knows Sorrento. But it was great.
"And it was just delicious." John added: "Thanks Luciano."
