Anybody who tried to enter a home closed by police could be arrested.

Officers in Warrington were forced to apply for a closure order on a home in Union Square, Warrington, after neighbours complained. It was reported the occupants of the house were engaging in crime and anti-social behaviour at the address, which was causing significant distress to local residents.

After police gathered a "catalogue" of evidence, officers from Warrington Beat Team attended court on July 19 and gave evidence of the behaviour happening at the property. The occupants have since been ordered to leave the property, with all windows and doors being boarded up for a period of three months.

Anyone who enters the address during that time will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.

Inspector Anna Keefe of Warrington Local Policing Unit said: “I am grateful that this closure order has been granted. The behaviour of those occupying the property was causing significant distress to local residents.

"This included drugs offences and anti-social behaviour. I would like to thank the community for their support, and I hope the order will improve the quality of life of those living nearby.

“I would continue to urge anyone who has any concerns about drug-related activity or anti-social behaviour in their community to get in touch with us and we will do the rest.”

Anyone with concerns about anti-social or suspicious behaviour is asked to report it to Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or call 101.
