A chippy is helping takeaway fans battle the cost of living crisis by offering a bargain-priced portion – and letting everyone in the community know about it.
A huge banner advertising "50p chips" is drawing in fast food lovers in Bromborough, where SelFish on the town's High Street is offering the cut-price dish.
With soaring costs seeing the average price of a full fish and chips reaching £11.05, the takeaway's budget offering is proving popular as locals reported seeing large queues to snap up the offer.

The proud owner of selFish Fish & Chips, Boris Bektashev, 35, runs the family business with the help of his wife. The couple have been trading for years across the region but only opened their current store two years ago.
The cost of the pandemic and covid regulations had a knock-on effect on the business and the world as a whole. Seeing how people struggled to make ends meet, Boris said he decided to put his best foot forward and offer an unbeatable deal so no one would go hungry.
The Huyton resident, who moved to Merseyside from Bulgaria 14 years ago, said he moved forward with the idea as food and energy prices were spiralling, and affecting older people in particular.
Boris told the Echo: "The 50p chips were put on the menu about eight months ago. It was mainly when the cost of living crisis hit, with prices hitting hard and becoming extortionate. Elderly people usually want a handful of chips so we made a specific item to make sure they didn't have to choose just one part of the meal."
The new addition went down a storm with locals and when the sign went up in the window, business began booming even more. Boris added: "We put the sign up five days ago. I made it so big that people could really see it. Everyone is really happy too and it feels really nice to be able to help people in a small way."
