City street transformed into 1970s Belfast for new Disney + drama
Liverpool Film Office confirmed crews were in the city for a 10-part drama
Men with guns were spotted on city road as Liverpool took centre stage in a new drama.
Film crews descended on City Road In Walton on Wednesday, May 24, with the street being transported back in time with old cars, a working men's club and an old telephone box. Pictures taken by the ECHO shows what appears to be the aftermath of an explosion along with characters holding hand guns in the street.
Cars looked burnt out, rubble was on the floor and bricks were piled high on the city streets. Houses on City Road also had brightly coloured timber frames and buildings were turned into vintage shops.

Liverpool Film Office confirmed crews were in the city for a 10-part drama called Beaumont. A spokesperson said filming was also taking place on Milman Road.
The series is produced by Minim UK Ltd for FX Productions, the show follows the lives of a number of characters growing up in Belfast in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s during the troubled times. As well as Liverpool, Beaumont is filming in London and Sheffield for most of 2023 and will be streamed on Disney + at some point next year.
A representative of FX Productions said: “Our production is privileged to be able to film in Liverpool. So much of what we do relies on local businesses and residents along with Liverpool City Council’s Film Office and their colleagues. All of which we truly thank for their support.”
Beaumont is one of a number of television productions filming or, in preparation to film in Liverpool, bringing increased and visible activity all across Liverpool City Region. Production levels recorded by the Film Office for 2022/23 show 1,481 film days with economic impact increasing to £28.8m.
