Road closed as schoolgirl, 15, hit by moped

A road is closed in both directions after a girl was hit by a moped and taken to hospital.

Merseyside Police were called to Princess Drive in Page Moss at around 5.10pm on Thursday, May 18, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a 15-year-old girl had been hit by a Honda NSS moped between the junctions of Liverpool Road and Finch Road.

The North West Ambulance Service took the girl to hospital with a serious leg injury. The rider of the moped, a man in his 40s stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police have now closed Princess Drive between Saxby Road to Finch Road and are asking people to avoid the area if they can. A number of police vehicles are still at the scene and pedestrians are able to walk by the scene on the pavement.

Arriva North West has said the 12, 13, 899 and 898 services will be diverted away from Princess Drive until further notice.

Police are appealing for anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage and witnessed the crash to contact them using the log number 801 of Thursday, May 18. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
