As part of an returning series, we’ll be reviewing some of the various takeaway outlets across Liverpool and Merseyside.
We’ll be looking at all aspects of the takeaway experience, from delivery times, price and of course, how the food measures up. The takeaways do not know we are ordering so the review is completely independent.
This week we sampled the highly raved about Big Bowl Noodle Bar on Berry Street.

Review:
Elliot – Chicken in black bean sauce, salt and pepper chips and prawn toast
The Chicken with black bean sauce was a triumph. Tender strips of marinated chicken, a solid flattened structure of boiled rice and salt and pepper chips and the oozeing black bean sauce. This would have been enough for any diner, but I am utterly susceptible to temptation and dived into the prawn toast, which was the highlight of a vast and varied selection.

Sophie – Beef in black bean sauce
Beef in black bean sauce is my go-to dish at most Chinese's and Big Bowl didn't disappoint with large chunks of beef in a rich and tasty sauce, accompanied by egg fried rice. I also can't resist chips with my Chinese and while the ones we received were hot, they were fries, whereas I prefer a chunkier 'chippy' style with my takeaway.

Abigail – Salt and pepper chicken with curry and ice peach lemonade
When it comes to having a takeaway, salt and pepper chicken is one of my favourites. The chicken was beautifully seasoned with chunky and crunchy veg mixed in. The curry was a great match for the dish brought it together perfectly. I washed down the meal, which was more than enough to leave anybody in a food coma, with the fresh ice peach lemonade. The only down side for me was the chips, which were very thin and did not travel well.
