Local News Reports

Sometimes we just need to be entertained in these hard times

January is a month that everyone in the hospitality industry dreads because of New Year’s Resolutions – Dry January, diets, and cutting back on how much you spend.

Great news for your health (and wallet) but bad news for the restaurants, bars and theatres. I remember when I was involved with the Shakespeare we would cut our cloth accordingly, and use lots of regular local acts. Amazingly one theatre that is bucking the trend, and is packed all month, is The Royal Court.

They have just announced that Scouse Jack and the Beanstalk is their most popular show ever – with more than 50,000 people booking to see it. It’s no surprise as the audience know what they are going to get.

Lots of live music. Loads of laughs. And all for a decent price.

The show finishes at the end of the month, and really is a must-see.

My Pete Price Holds Court shows are back this year – February, March and May and they are looking like sell-outs already.

The reason why? It’s old fashioned cabaret and inexpensive tickets.

I think that people everywhere who are struggling with hard times need to be entertained. The variety on my shows at the Royal Court, with singers and comedians just takes the audience out of themselves.

I love hosting these evenings and spending time with these audiences. We all finish off with a singsong in time for the last train home. So this January treat yourself and go and have a damn good night at The Royal Court.

Best of luck to all the theatres in our region for 2023.
