A man was left with serious injuries after being brutally assaulted and having his bike stolen outside a shop.
Police confirmed officers were called around 8.30pm to reports of a robbery on Liverpool Road in Burscough on Friday, March 31. A man was found to have been assaulted and his bike stolen near the Spar.
The victim, in his 40s, suffered serious injuries to his face as a result of the attack. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

An investigation is now underway with Lancashire Police appealing for any information. A cordon is believed to have been set up around the area of the incident, with forensics investigating on Saturday morning.
A spokesperson for the force told the ECHO: "We were called around 8.30pm on Friday (March 31) to a report of a robbery in Liverpool Road, Burscough. A man had been assaulted and had his bike stolen.
"The victim, aged in his 40s, suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment An investigation is underway and enquiries ongoing.
"Anyone with information can call 101 quoting log 1493 of March 31."
