Live updates as car and motorbike crash causes South Liverpool road closure

A crash between a motorbike and car led to the closure of a major South Liverpool road at rush hour.

Mather Avenue in Allerton was cordoned off after the incident, which led to emergency services including the air ambulance being called.

Drivers reported delays and diversions due to the incident, which the fire service told the ECHO was reported to them at 5.45pm.

Crews were at the scene, close to the Merseyside Police Training Academy, by 5.55pm. Two fire engines attended.

They said the car was on all four wheels and the occupant of the car was out of the vehicle with no injuries. The motorcyclist was conscious and breathing and being assessed by air ambulance and paramedics, according to the fire service.

Fire crews left the scene at 6.34pm but police remain in attendance. The motorbike rider was taken to hospital for further treatment.
