The news that Wetherspoons has decided to pull the plug on a £3m revamp of the Master Mariner in New Brighton has frustrated many.
Hundreds have had their say since the news broke yesterday, including the Wallasey MP who said she was "incredibly disappointed" at the "total disarray" the pub has been left in. She called it an "unwelcome eyesore" in the area, and said Wetherspoons had left the pub "far worse off than they found it."
A spokesperson for the pub chain said they "understand the disappointment" at the decision, and said they will be "shortly erecting hoardings" around the site to improve its visual appearance.

Andy Burnham – new Everton stadium will be 'most iconic' in England
The Mayor of Greater Manchester and lifelong Evertonian told the ECHO at an Everton in the Community event he was "absolutely certain" the new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock will be the "the most iconic ground in English football."
He added: "I’ve been down and had a look. It will be the most talked-about ground, I’m certain." Football writer Chris Beesley has the story.
Police update on man left fighting for life after Croxteth stabbing
Police have issued an update on a man who remains in hospital after being stabbed on Saturday. The man was fighting for his life after the incident but police have now said that though he is still in hospital and in a critical condition, his condition is described as stable.
