TV star chef Jamie Oliver has set the record straight on how to obtain the 'perfect boiled egg'.
While the ideal egg is subjective there is a whole host of methods to perfect cooking one. Many people take to the likes of TikTok to share their hacks and advice to get it just right.
But one of the best people you can listen to for cooking advice is a professional. Popular British chef Jamie Oliver has shared how to cook the 'perfect' boiled egg that looks brilliantly fail-safe, using a spoon.

The Mirror reported that the TV star took to popular social media app Facebook to admit that his method starts from the initial purchase of the eggs. Placing your eggs in a fridge can do more harm than good, so he advises that you keep them at room temperature.
Captioning the post, the chef wrote: "How to cook the PERFECT boiled eggs…" He admitted it's confusing to know which recipe is best after having witnessed 'very strange methods' of cooking a boiled egg, but Jamie laid out his straightforward recipe.
Vowing to show a 'rock solid and perfect way to boil an egg', he encouraged people to opt for the 'same-sized egg' every time. Noting the wide variety of eggs that are available in the supermarket, Jamie advised people to opt for a large, free-range, and organic egg.
He said: "If you want to cook the perfect boiled egg every time, you need the same sized egg. We have a pan of boiling water – in that pan, I'm going to add a tiny, tiny, tiny pinch of salt," he added.
"[The egg] goes in a slotted spoon, pop it in the water, and just dip the egg in and out two or three times – then gently place it on the bottom of the pan."
To achieve a soft-boiled egg, he said: "It's five and half minutes on the head. Set your timer and get ready to go. For semi-soft-boiled, it's seven and half minutes, and for hard-boiled – it's 11-12 minutes."
To finish, make sure that you remove the egg the right way once it's completed boiling. Specifically, Jamie advises people to go for the 'blunter side up'. And that's it – it's as simple as that. Ready to eat, the faster the better!
