Police seal off major road after child hit by van – live updates

Police have closed a major road after a child was hit by a van.

Merseyside Police were called to Kensington this evening following reports of a crash on the road. Once officers got to the scene they found a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

The ECHO understands a young boy has been hit by the van, but this has not been officially confirmed by Merseyside Police.

At least five police vehicles are at the scene, where the road is closed between Albany Road and Low Hill.

Full police statement

An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a ford transit van.

Merseyside Police were called to Kensington at 7.55pm on Friday, March 10, following reports of a crash. Once officers got to the scene they found an 11-year-old boy had been knocked down by a Ford Transit van.

The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance shortly after. Police were unable to confirm the condition of the 11-year-old.
