An investigation is underway after Liverpool's Eleanor Rigby statue was damaged by suspected vandals.

The bronze statue on Stanley Street is believed to have been targeted in the early hours of this morning, January 15. The bench the statue sits on has been partially smashed, and portions of the stone seat have collapsed.

It is the third time the statue – which stands as a tribute to The Beatles' 1966 hit song of the same name – has been damaged since 2015.
