School issues urgent warning after child approached by man walking home

A school has issued an urgent warning to parents after a child was approached on their way home.

Teachers at Halewood Academy, based on The Avenue, posted the alert to parents after a pupil was approached by a man while walking home on Wednesday, February 22. The incident reportedly happened at Wood Lane Park.

Parents and carers are being asked to tell their children to report any similar incidents to the school.

Posting to parents today (Thursday, February 23) on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, the school said: "A member of our school community was approached yesterday by a male while walking home from school. This was at Wood Lane Park.

"We are making your child aware of not engaging with strangers, reporting incidents to the police/parents/school as soon as possible, have charge on their phone, and a walk with a friend.

"Please do the same."

The post has already been shared dozens of times by parents in the area.
