Police officers attacked after responding to concern for woman’s safety

Police officers were attacked as they responded to an incident in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called shortly after 4pm following reports of a concern for safety of a woman at a property in Kirkdale. Several police vehicles were seen in the area of Westminster Drive.

While at the address officers assessed the woman before they were assaulted inside the property. Arrests have since been made.

A spokesperson for the force said: "The incident on Westminster Rod was a report of a concern for safety of a woman. Just after 4pm we received a report of a concern for safety of a woman at a property in Kirkdale.

"Officers assessed the woman who was safe and well inside the property. The 46-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man from Liverpool were later arrested after three officers were assaulted inside the property.

"They have been taken to a police station in Merseyside where they remain in custody."

Police confirmed this was an isolated incident and nobody else was harmed.
