Dr Michael Mosley has shared a simple dessert recipe for "chocolate lovers" and each serving contains 58 calories.

The weight loss and fitness guru, who devised the 5:2 and Fast 800 diet plans, is known for his healthy eating tips. His methods have meant he has appeared on shows such as This Morning and also hosts the BBC podcast, Just One Thing.

In an Instagram post earlier this week the doctor shared a recipe, admitting he has a "sweet tooth". He said: "I have a keto-friendly option for you created by my wife Dr Clare Bailey.

"The trick when it comes to reducing sugar spikes is to eat treats and deserts at the end of a savoury meal, rather than on an empty stomach. You won't feel deprived! #chocolatelover #fast800treats #ketotreats #ketochocolate".

The chocolate peanut butter cookies are made from just three ingredients, with each serving containing 58 calories, 2.3g of protein, and 4.2g of carbohydrates. You'll need around 100g of peeled and mashed ripe banana, 2 level tbsp of crunchy or smooth peanut butter, and 2 level tbsp of cocoa powder.

Preheat your own to 200c, or 180c if a fan oven, and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a pinch of salt before "dolloping" six cookies onto the tray and cooking for about 12 minutes, or until firm to touch, and allow to cool before eating.

Fans have been quick to respond to the social media post, as Asha said: "They sound terrible easy, definitely going to give them a try". Willow said: "I have these almost every day instead of a pudding.

"It satisfies my sweet tooth so I don't feel deprived. I make a big batch and freeze them – they're best straight out of the freezer in my opinion! Like big chocolate chunks. Yum yum".
