Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid was horrified as Stephanie Beacham shared her terrifying ordeal on today's show.

The broadcaster fronted Tuesday's edition of the ITV news programme alongside Richard Madeley. Stephanie was interviewed on the show as 2024 marks her 60th year in the industry.

The 76-year-old show to stardom as a stage actor in Liverpool's Everyman Theatre and has gone on to enjoy a legendary career. Stephanie appeared as Martha Fraser in Coronation Street and has also enjoyed roles in Dynasty, and Death In Paradise.

In the interview, Stephanie reflected on her horrifying experience from 2022 when she came face to face with a burglar during a raid at her London home. She said: "I heard a noise downstairs…

"There he was the most frightening face and he was holding a crow bar. He did have the opportunity to run for the front door, but he didn't. He leapt up the stairs."

Susanna was visibly shocked by the encounter as Stephanie revealed she feared for her life. She continued: "I thought, I think I'm going to die. I was an absolute wimp and I gave him my money. I gave him everything."

The burglar locked Stephanie in the bathroom before leaving her home. The person has been arrested in connection with the incident. Susanna supported the star as the segment came to an end.

She said: "Honestly, my jaw is on the floor listening to that."
