A warning has been given to anyone with plans to visit France.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its advice, as of January 29, for anyone travelling from aboard. It comes after a string of protests that led to travel disruption across parts of the country.

The guidance, which is available on the GOV.UK website, said: "There have been some demonstrations in France related to the situation in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. French authorities have increased security around Jewish community sites.

"Stay aware of your surroundings and follow the advice of local authorities." Since mid-January, protests by farmers have taken place across France with actions including blocking major roads and delaying traffic, including on the edges of large cities.

The FCDO warned tourists that there can be frequent industrial action across France, adding that this can lead to disruption and delays on public transport. Their guidance read: "If you’re due to travel to or within France, monitor the media, check your operator’s advice and follow the advice of the authorities."

It comes as roads in the nation have been blocked in a series of protests. French farmers also dumped produce as they demand urgent action on low farmgate prices, green regulation and free-trade policies. Reuters reports that farmers have said their demonstrations will continue as long as their demands are not met.
