Air ambulance and emergency services rush to woods

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to a woodland following an incident this afternoon.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the ECHO that they were called to an incident on Rest Hill Road, Storeton, Wirral, at 12.52pm today, Sunday, January 21. A spokesperson said one fire engine arrived at the scene around eight minutes later with the fire crew tasked with assisting North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics to gain access to a casualty.

The person, whose identity has not been confirmed by the fire service, was conscious and breathing and was treated at the scene for a head laceration. The casualty was then moved using a scoop stretcher and taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Images seen by the ECHO showed an air ambulance in a field next to the woodland. A NWAS ambulance was also pictured. The fire service spokesperson confirmed the crew left the area at 1.52pm.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place across the whole of the UK today with strong winds over 50mph expected. Merseyside is under an amber warning for wind which started at 4pm. Local authorities have warned about the threat of flying debris and people are being asked to avoid travel during the storm where possible.
