Met Office experts are predicting a dramatic change in the weather after a cold snap that has seen much of the country blanketed in snow.

Liverpool woke up to snow on Tuesday, January 16, after an overnight flurry that saw schools closed and travel disruption on the roads and rail networks across Merseyside. Yesterday (Wednesday) also saw cold and icy conditions for much of the region.

But earlier yellow weather warnings for today, Thursday, have now been withdrawn and the Met Office is predicting things will get much milder in the coming days. In fact, parts of the UK are set to be hotter than places like Ibiza and Barcelona, with highs of up to 15C.

Senior Met Office spokesperson Nicky Maxey told the Mirror: "By Monday (January 22) we could be looking at temperatures in double figures, somewhere like London could be 13, 14, 15C. Glasgow 8-10C.

"Quite a change in the feel of the weather. It’s going to be more wet and windy though."

For Liverpool, the Met Office is predicting highs of 10C on Monday, January 22, with "light showers changing to sunny intervals by lunchtime". On Tuesday, January 23, the mercury is set to rise as high as 13C, though there'll be plenty of light showers throughout the day.

It is then predicted to be "cloudy changing to sunny intervals by late morning" on Wednesday, January 24, with highs of 10C.
