Beloved television presenter Rylan Clark has been caught up in a viral fan joke that came from BBC's The Traitors.

The reality drama show kicked off last week with thousands of fans tuning in to see who is faithful and who is a traitor. Spoiler warning if you are yet to watch series two.

One stand-out cast member is Diane, a retired teacher from Lancashire. In a dramatic reveal, Diane told viewers she had a son in the competition, Ross, unbeknownst to her fellow competitors.

Her delivery was branded Oscar-worthy and birthed several memes of the moment, one of which tied directly to Rylan Clark. Diane said: "Paul couldn't be my son…. but Ross is." Fans online took the opportunity to run amok with the clip, bringing to light once again that Rylan's real name is also Ross.

Rylan is aware of the tweets, even liking some he was tagged in. Rylan's real name has popped up occasionally over the years, including by his mum on Channel 4's Gogglebox and a personal post he shared himself on X, formerly known as Twitter.

During a home clearout in 2018, Rylan found a pencil case from his school days with his birth name written across the front in white marker. Sharing the image online, he said: "Real name is Ross btw".

Rylan has gone through several name changes over the years. While pursuing a career in modelling before his days as a presenter, the agency he signed up told him his real name was boring and dubbed him Kielan instead, the Mirror reported.

Then while visiting a branch of WH Smith, the budding star flicked through a baby name book to the 'R' section when he happened on the name Rylan – the name that he'd carry through the rest of his career.
