The first baby girl to be born in Liverpool on Christmas Day was the adorable Holly Marshall.

Parents Charlotte and Kyle Marshall, both 33, from Aigburth, welcomed Holly into the world at 3.10am on December 25 at Liverpool Women's Hospital. Holly weighed 7lbs 1oz and was described by mum Charlotte as the "best Christmas present" she could have asked for.

Despite the festive connotations of the name Holly, Charlotte said she already had the name picked out before she knew she would be a Christmas baby. Charlotte told the ECHO: "It took us a while to get pregnant and that's the name we wanted.

"Today is obviously a bit of a chaotic day but I'm over the moon. It's amazing. She's the best Christmas present."

Holly was one of many new arrivals at Liverpool Women's Hospital on December 25. Lucie Wood, 31, and Jack Finlay, 30, from Ellesmere Port, also welcomed their baby Lachlan into the world on Christmas Eve.

Baby Lachlan weighed 8lbs 15oz when he was born on December 24, the day after his due date. The couple spent Christmas Day morning at the hospital with Lachlan but have since been told they can bring him home today.

Lucie said: "It's been a bit overwhelming. He's the best Christmas present we could have asked for.

"The staff are amazing. Every single person we've come across has been incredible. Our midwife Rebecca, she was so chatty and it kept me focused. I trusted her completely and it made it so much better. She stayed late to make sure I was OK.

Speaking of his partner Lucie, dad Jack said: "I'm amazed at her. She's amazing and he's just a mini chunk."
