Rail users are facing disruption this evening due to a fault.
With Christmas just two days away, many people will be heading out to get some last minute bits for the big day. Whether out shopping or enjoying the festivities, the weekend is already looking to be a busy one.
But rail users are facing some delays this afternoon due to a fault. A passenger on the Ormskirk Line told the ECHO they were forced to get off the train at Walton Station due to a fault.

Pictures show crowds of people at the station as the train had not moved. Merseyrail confirmed there have been some cancellations and adjustments. They wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Due to a train fault, some services on the Ormskirk line face cancellations or alterations to service."
Merseyrail confirmed to the ECHO that customers were asked to board the following service and the train with the fault was cancelled and returned to the depot for assessment and repair.
According to Merseyrail, all other lines are running on schedule apart from the Ormskirk Line. The 3.46pm train Central to Ormskirk was terminated at Walton and the 4.34pm train to Liverpool Central was cancelled.
People are being advised to check before they travel to ensure all information is up to date. You can find more information here.
