A woman burst into tears after looking in her shopping trolley at B&M.

With just days to go until Christmas, the discount supermarket was busy again this weekend with customers picking up last minute gifts and food. At around 8.30pm on Saturday, December 16, one customer headed to the till at the Great Homer Street store when she realised she didn't have enough money to pay for her shopping.

A staff member said the woman asked if she could leave some items in her trolley and pay for what she could afford. However, moments later, she was approached by a kind stranger who appeared to drop a "wad" of cash in her trolley before walking out of the store.

The staff member told the ECHO: "As she was sorting out her shopping, an older male waiting behind her walked up to her, simply said 'merry Christmas' and dropped what looked to be a large wad of money on her shopping in her trolley and walked out without saying anything else.

"The woman stood there for a minute or so crying saying she couldn't believe it."

The staff member said they hoped the "nice Christmas gesture" will "warm people's hearts before Christmas and show how good and close the Liverpool community spirit is."
