Nigel Harman made a "strange" admission as he lifted the lid on his Strictly Come Dancing exit.

The former EastEnders actor was forced to withdraw from this year's race to win the Glitterball after he sustained a rib injury. The 50-year-old was partnered with Katya Jones on this season's contest and the two appeared on tonight's edition of It Takes Two to reflect on their journey.

The two appeared on the spin off programme on Friday before the injury was announced and Nigel shared he had already injured himself by this point. He said: "When I sat talking to you on Friday, I knew I was in a bit of trouble but I thought if I just go to sleep maybe it'll be all alright in the morning but that didn't happen."

Nigel admitted it felt strange for the Strictly journey to be over. He said: "It was very strange waking up this morning and not dancing with you. I didn't know what to do with myself. I'm still in a bit of pain so I was sort of moping around the house thinking 'I wonder what Katya is doing today'."

Nigel is married to fellow actor, Lucy Liemann, who he hailed for being so supportive throughout his time on the show. He added: "She's been incredible and supportive and kept me going in lots of ways.

"I think she's proud of me and I think there's an element of 'you were better than I thought you were going to be'… She has been looking after me today. I feel very lucky and blessed."

Fans following the show on social media platform X took to the social media platform to share a tribute to Nigel during the exit interview. Olivia said: "Going to really miss Nigel and Katya."

Ryan said: "Nigel and Katya's exit interview. My heart is broken he was incredible and will really be missed. Get better soon Nigel"
