A man who knocked a stranger out on a night out, a pair of county lines drug dealers and a killer driver who caused the death of a 12-year-old girl were among the Merseyside criminals jailed over the past week.
Also locked up was a man who legged it from police after he was found with £50,000 in cash. Meanwhile, Liverpool Crown Court heard that a prisoner encouraged a fellow inmate to kill himself.

Wade Walsh
A repeat offender who taunted a fellow inmate at HMP Altcourse and encouraged him to kill himself turned violent when guards intervened.
Wade Walsh, 49, was serving time at the prison when, at around 4.30pm on March 17, another man threatened to jump from the railings on the Melling Brow unit. As prison officers attempted to talk the man down, Walsh goaded him and told him to jump.
He was approached by two officers and an altercation broke out. Prosecutor Ian Criddle said: "He hit (one of the officers) with the palm of his hand, and when he was taken to the floor by the officer, he stuck his finger into his eye and bit him on the chest."
The other officer attempted to intervene, and was also bitten. Walsh, formerly of Cameron Road in Leasowe, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and was handed three-and-a-half months behind bars.
James Matthews and Phillip Burns
Dealers who flooded the streets with cocaine have been jailed for a combined seven years and nine months.
They were caught by police when James Matthews was stop searched and found to have wraps of white powder, two bags of cannabis, two mobile phones and a quantity of cash. The 19-year-old, of Naylor Road, Ellesmere Port, attempted to run away but was arrested a short time later.
Enquiries revealed a phone number which was identified as a graft number responsible for the supply of cocaine. Further investigations found Matthews and Phillip Burns, 32, were linked to the graft number.
The former was was arrested a second time, being located at an address in Ellesmere Port where bags of cocaine, cash, digital scales, food bags, a phone, and a notebook were seized. Matthews was jailed for two years and three months, with Burns given five-and-a-half years.
Charlie Cooper
A man fled from the clutches of police after they raided his house and found more than £50,000 in cash.
Officers came knocking at Charlie Cooper's home after discovering a cannabis farm consisting of a total of 149 plants on Hale Road in Widnes. They later linked the grow to Charlie Cooper, who was arrested at his then home on Padgate Lane in Warrington.
A large amount of cash was discovered in a safe at the address, with further cash being hidden behind the headboard of a bed. These monies amounted to a total of £52,640.77,
Having initially appeared "calm and compliant", Cooper successfully fled on foot. The 28-year-old later handed himself in to police.
Cooper admitted production of cannabis and escaping lawful custody. He was jailed for five years.
Colin Martindale
A man floored a stranger with a single punch after rowing with him in Warrington town centre.
Colin Martindale punched Liam Fox in the face as they walked down Bridge Street at around 6am on September 3, 2022. The two men, who were not known to each other, had bumped into each other on the corner and an argument broke out, which continued until Martindale suddenly lashed out, knocking Mr Fox unconscious.
The 40-year-old admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was jailed for eight months.
David Pursglove
A 12-year-old girl was killed by a careless driver as she got off a bus on her way home from school.
David Pursglove, 35, admitted causing death by careless driving after knocking over Lexi McDavid at around 3.30pm on June 7 last year. The Broughton Hall Catholic High School pupil was on her way to a friend's house when she got off a bus on Princess Drive, Huyton, and ran out into the road, where she was hit by Pursglove's white Mercedes Sprinter van as it travelled at around 45mph in a 30mph zone.
Pursglove showed no emotion as he was sentenced to eight months in prison, and banned from driving for two years and 10 months. Lexi's family, sitting in court, broke down in tears.
