A road in the Georgian Quarter is closed following a crash between a bus and a van.

Merseyside Police were called to Catharine Street on Wednesday afternoon, November 29, following reports of a crash. Merseytravel said the road is closed in both directions near to the junction of Upper Parliament Street.

Merseytravel tweeted: "Due to a RTC, Catherine st #Toxteth is closed in both directions near to junction with Upper Parliament street. All 75,80,80A, 86 and 86A services inbound and outbound will be subject to delays and diversions."

Road now reopened after bus moved

Four people treated by paramedics at the scene

Merseyside Police has confirmed four people were treated at the scene after a bus and van crashed on Catharine Street.

A spokesperson said: "At around 1.10pm this afternoon (Wednesday 29 November) we received a report of a collision on Catharine St in Liverpool involving a bus and a white Mercedes. Four people were treated by paramedics for injuries that were not serious.

"The road is currently blocked whilst the vehicles and any damage are being removed from the scene."
