A couple who returned £180 to a man after he dropped it on the street have been called "beautiful honest people".
Ring doorbell footage captured the moment the couple knocked on the door of Paul Lyon's house, on Sunday November 26. The man, from St Helens, dropped cash while out and had only been home 30 seconds when there was a knock on the door. When he opened the door he was surprised to find a young couple holding a wad of cash which he had unknowingly dropped.
Since the ECHO reported the story yesterday, dozens of people have commented to commend the young couple, Charlie and Jarrod, for their honesty. One reader commented: "Great news this. What nice honest people they are. Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone was like this?"

Another reader said: "We need more great citizens like these." While Livergal commented: "Well done to this young couple, lovely story."
ECHO user StHelensefc9999 said: "Typical St Helens people. Salt of the earth. We are the best."
The tributes continued on Facebook. Pat McGrath said: "What beautiful honest people. They could have taken the money and no-one would have been any the wiser. Amazing wishing you both all the luck in the world." Meanwhile Denise Lawless said: "There is honest people still in the world."
After having his money returned Paul also put out a message on his local Facebook Page, and wrote: "These two honest people came knocking my door this morning after realising I dropped £180 on the floor. They could of easily walked away with it. I offered a cash reward but they refused to take it even though I insisted, they still refused. I really hope they have a great Christmas."
The post attracted a lot of attention, with many commenters praising Jarrod and Charlie for their actions.
One person said: "I love hearing stories like this of young kids. Most kids these days get slated for all kinds of different things but this is proof that we haven’t totally lost a whole generation to today’s society. Still lots of young, kind, smart, respectful kids around. I applaud them well done hope you get a good deed payed back to you one day."
Speaking to the ECHO, Paul said: "They quite easily could have walked off with the money and I would never have realised… Some family members have messaged me to say they are so proud and they are only 17. I wasn't expecting it."
He added: "I could tell by their personalities that they would've been gutted had that happened to them, both as honest as each other."
Helen Pye said it was her son Jarrod and his partner Charlie, as she added they were all "so proud". She told the ECHO: "We’re all so proud of them both – even before this they are two of the loveliest and hardworking people you could ever meet.
"They are both exemplary students in Y13 at Rainford High School. They also do a lot outside school, Charlie has her own business. Jarrod volunteers at Dungeons of the North role playing gaming community, where he runs games for teenagers each week."
Charlie's mum Sarah said: "We think she's an amazing girl and we're extremely proud of their actions."
