A seemingly normal terraced house that later became known as a "flower power house" in Liverpool has been captured in brilliant photos from almost 60 years ago.
The ECHO previously reported how the house on the corner of Gwendoline Street in Toxteth has a fascinating history and that in 1964, it was Sakina Ali who moved into the house with her one-year-old daughter and decided to set up a fashion boutique in her front room. At the age of 21, Sakina named the business Frilly Poppins Boutique – and it soon became a huge hit with locals.
Creating everything from dresses and jeans to children's clothes, it wasn't until 1971 that it became known as 'the flower power house' in the area, with tourists travelling for miles to see the property which Sakina had painted with a vibrant flower mural. Sakina sold the house in 1978 and in 2020, she told the ECHO how she still has pictures of it today in her business Dry Rain by Sakina on Prescot Road.

These photos, recently unearthed from our archives, Mirrorpix, have been unseen for years and were taken back in January 1966. Featuring Sakina and her sister-in-law, you can see what the house looked like at the time, as well as inside the boutique.
The outfits worn are also bound to stir some memories. See more in our gallery below.
