Thousands of commuters and other passengers use Merseyrail trains across the region each day.
While the rail service endeavours to get people from A to B on time and in comfort, delays and cancellations do happen. If your journey is interrupted you may be entitled to your money back.
And this isn't the only reason you can get a refund. Merseyrail says some people can claim their money back simply if they change their mind and decide not to travel, however, this type of request may be subject to a £10 administration charge.

What are my rights if my Merseyrail train is delayed or cancelled?
If a delay or cancellation meant you did not travel, you can claim a full refund by taking your ticket back to the ticket office where it was bought from before you leave the station and you will be given the refund by the method of payment you used to buy the ticket.
Alternatively you can claim online here.
If your ticket is for a journey that is entirely on the Merseyrail Northern or Wirral line, and during that journey you are delayed for more than half an hour Merseyrail said it will provide compensation.
For a single ticket, the compensation will be equal to the full cost of the ticket. If you have a return ticket, the compensation will be half the cost of the ticket.
If your ticket involves travel on other lines, but you are delayed on Merseyrail, you may be entitled to compensation equal to 20% of the cost of your ticket price.
