Two schoolboys in hospital after being stabbed near park

Teenagers were near Mystery Park in Wavertree before they were stabbed.

Emergency services rushed to Colville Street in Wavertree on Saturday evening following reports two schoolboys were stabbed. Police were called at around 7.25pm and confirmed two schoolboys were in hospital following the incident.

Merseyside Police confirmed that a 15-year-old boy had injuries to his head and a 13-year-old boy had injuries to his back and shoulder after being attacked close to Colville Street and the injuries were consistent with a bladed weapon being used.

People living in the area have described seeing police around Wavertree Playground, known locally as the Mystery. Forensic officers have also been seen on Colville Road as officers make door to door enquiries.

Merseyside Police confirmed in a statement that they believe the teenagers were near to the Mystery Park when the incident happened. They urge anyone with information to come forward as a "matter of urgency".

Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “We are working to establish what has taken place and carrying out a number of lines of enquiry. We believe the teenagers were near the Mystery park when the incident happened and would ask anyone who was in that area tonight who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
