Huge cruise ship carrying message docks in Liverpool

A cruise ship which promotes peace has docked in Liverpool.

The Pacific World arrived at the city's Cruise Terminal today (October 18), decorated in the livery of 'Peace Boat' – a Japanese initiative to promote peace, human rights and sustainability. The initiative was established in 1983 and uses passenger ships travelling the world to carry out its main activities and spread its message.

This year, its voyages take place on Pacific World.

The vessel has 'Peace Boat' written on the side, as well as a symbol which shows the peace sign over a missile. The ship has 15 decks and is 261.3 metres long, weighing 77,441 tonnes.

She can reach a top speed of 22.4 knots and can carry 2,419 passengers. According to the schedule, the ship will remain in Liverpool overnight.

She set sail from Japan in August with a 105-day itinerary. The ship will visit 24 different places before returning to Japan in December.
