Merseyside Police have issued an update on the condition of a man who was stabbed in the neck.
The force were called to Brougham Avenue in Tranmere, Wirral, at around 4am on Tuesday, October 10, following reports of an incident. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a man in his 40s had been stabbed in the back and neck.
Police were told the suspect had run off in the direction of Orchard Court and Quigley Street. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment where he was described as being in a critical condition and fighting for his life.

In an update to The ECHO this afternoon, Merseyside Police confirmed the man is now in a stable condition. A cordon remained in place today, while high visibility patrols were also in the area to reassure the local community.
Detectives are currently carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.
Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: "We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone with information to please come forward. We are still trying to establish the circumstances of what happened and what led to this incident.
"If you live in the area, please check your CCTV cameras to see if you captured anything at around the time of the incident. Any piece of information could prove vital to our enquiries.
