Warning to E.on Next customers over winter discount eligibility

A warning has been issued to E.on Next customers as some may be eligible for winter discounts.

In the latest moneysavingexpert.com newsletter, E.on Next customers were urged to watch out for contact from the firm offering up to 50% off on bills this winter. It comes as part of the new Winter Affordability Support Scheme for those in need.

However, the money saving expert team is reminding people to be vigilant of scams. E.on Next will contact customers directly via email, letter or over the phone.

Most text messages from E.on will come through as 'E.on Next' and all emails will come from hi@eonnext.com. However, those who are unsure whether contact is genuine should avoid replying or clicking on any links and instead, contact E.on Next directly.

According to the money saving expert team, to be eligible for the scheme, you must:

  • Have been an existing E.on Next customer by September 25, 2023
  • Be on E.on Next's standard variable tariff (SVT)
  • Have a smart meter (or agree to have one installed)
    AND
  • Have a household income of £19,000 or less
    OR
  • Have medical dependency needs and a household income of £31,000 or less. E.on Next's list of medical dependencies includes: nebuliser or apnoea monitor, heart-lung or lung ventilator, dialysis, feeding pump or automated medication, oxygen concentrator or MDE electric showering.

The newsletter reads: "E.on Next told us it will use the information it already holds about customers, such as whether they are eligible for the Warm Home Discount scheme or if they are on the Priority Services Register, to determine who might be eligible and will contact them directly.

"It added that it will contact all potentially eligible customers, including those who could save by switching to its SVR. However, if you think you're eligible but haven't heard anything, you can contact E.on Next directly by calling 0808 501 5200 or emailing hi@eonnext.com."

The ECHO previously reported that Martin Lewis shared an "easy way" for E.on customers to lower their energy bills. The Money Saving Expert founder took to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday to give an "important heads up".

In a video, Mr Lewis continued: "There's an easy way many of you can pay less for the energy that you use over the next year".

He then introduced the "E.on Next Pledge Tracker version two tariff", which is only available to existing E.on customers. The finance guru explained the tariff provides a discount on the energy Price Cap.
