Hours of Merseyrail delays are expected as several lines are affected during rush hour.
The travel provider released an update at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, September 20, about trains travelling on the West Kirby, New Brighton, Ellesmere Port and Chester lines. They announced there was "major disruption" and all trains travelling on the lines were at a standstill due to "signalling problems".
The update read: "Due to signalling problems between Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central, the Wirral line is disrupted. Disruption is expected until 7pm."

What lines are affected?
Trains on the West Kirby, Chester and Ellesmere Port lines are showing as "minor disruption" with the New Brighton line having "major disruption".
Merseyrail said: "Train services to New Brighton may be terminated at and started back from Birkenhead North. Train services to Chester may be terminated at and started back from James Street."
