Tributes pour in after man, 35, dies in crash

Tributes have come pouring in after a man in his 30s died after his motorbike collided with a car on a major road.

The 35-year-old's bike crashed with a Citroen C3 Aircross that was turning right from Hesketh Way onto New Chester Road in Wirral at around 7.10pm this evening (Sunday, September 10). He was treated by paramedics at the scene, but unfortunately, he died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Merseyside Police said officers from their Roads Policing Unit are now appealing for witnesses following a serious crash in Bromborough. They said Merseyside Police, North West Ambulance Service and ambulance air service helicopter attended the scene and road closures are still in place.

Since the tragic news, tributes have come pouring in. One person at the scene described it as "tragic" as they added they were "hoping for the best". One ECHO reader commented: "So sad thinking of his family at this time", as another added: "Heart-breaking thinking of his family."

A third wrote: "So sad, thinking of his family and friends, having a 35-year-old son who rides a motorbike can only imagine the heartache they are going through."

Another said: "So sad my thoughts are with the man’s family and friends tonight. Rip young man."

Merseyside Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to New Chester Road shortly after 7pm on Sunday evening following reports of a crash. A road closure was immediately put in place, stretching to near Aldi and towards Port Causeway.

An air ambulance and search and rescue teams were also seen earlier in the evening. Within the cordon officers could be seen conducting house to house enquiries and investigations of the road and dozens of police cars remains at the scene.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at 7.09pm and two crews were on scene around 7.12pm. They confirmed a motorbike had been in collision with a car and emergency services attended.

Chief Inspector Bobby Woodhall, said: "An investigation is ongoing after a motorcyclist sadly died following a collision on New Chester Road earlier this evening. The next of kin of the motorcyclist have been informed and are being supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers.
"We would ask any drivers in the area who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward. Any footage, or information, could be vital in establishing what happened."
