A huge section of East Lancashire Road is closed in both directions following a “serious” crash between a car and motorbike.
Police were called to the busy junction at Coopers Lane, Knowsley, following reports of a crash. The North West Ambulance Service were at the scene earlier, according to eyewitnesses.
At least a dozen police officers are at the scene.
A cordon is currently in place between Hewitts Lane and Moorgate Road South. People are also unable to use the Coopers Lane and Ormskirk Road sides of the crossroads.

Man, 39, fighting for life after car and bike crash on major road
A man is fighting for life after a crash between a car and a motorbike on a major road.
Merseyside Police were called to East Lancashire Road at the junction of Coopers Lane in Knowsley on Thursday, July 27, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a blue Ford and a motorbike had crashed at the busy junction.
The 39-year-old motorbike rider was taken to Aintree Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition. No arrests have been made at this time. Read the full story here
