Jul 27, 2023

Pride in Liverpool is holding a city-wide takeover for the first time in the organisation's history.

Alongside the annual march through the city, a number of event hubs will pop up with locations including Pier Head, Mann Island and outside the Museum of Liverpool on Saturday, July 29.

Performers, artists, food and drink stalls and community activities will appear at each of the event hubs to make sure this year's Pride in Liverpool is one for the history books.

For those needing extra support or concerned about accessibility, here's a full guide with all the information you need to join in on the festivities.

Level Access / Accessible Toilets

March With Pride Muster

St Georges Plateau is a cobbled surface which may not be suitable for wheelchairs or people who require a level footing. Those wishing to muster but who need a level surface should muster between the two lions central to the hall on Lime Street – there is a level surface with the road surface where the march can be joined.

The nearest accessible toilets to the muster are Liverpool Central Library, Lime Street Station or St Johns Shopping Centre.

March

The march is approximately 1.5 miles long and takes place on public city streets. Pride in Liverpool advises anyone requiring level access to stick to the right-hand side of the road rather than pavements (which may have varying drop curbs). When crossing the strand, those requiring level surfaces are encouraged to use the pedestrian crossing as this is level with the roadway.

Those that may not be able to do the whole route should plan a safe place to take a break or exit the march, with the suggested location being Lord Street in the pedestrianised shopping area.

Pier Head Food & Drink Court

Access from the march onto Pier Head is level with the road surface. The Pier Head is a flat surface with few inclines. The Pier Head food court has accessible toilets available at the north of the site. A reserved space for accessible viewing of the Liverpool Live Radio pop-up stage is available to the left-hand side of the stage.

Community EXPO & Pride House at Mann Island

All of the Mann Island and Pride House sites are on level surfaces. A lift is available in Pride House to reach the first floor stall space and exhibitions. Accessible toilets are available on the first floor and in many of the businesses around the Mann Island footprint.

Health & Wellbeing Zone, Outside Museum of Liverpool

All of the Health & Wellbeing Zone activities take place on level surfaces. A lift is available in Museum of Liverpool to reach other floors. Accessible toilets are available in the Museum of Liverpool. If travelling to the Albert Dock, please note there are uneven surfaces and it would be advisable to use the Strand as this has a level surface and drop curbs.

Liverpool Loves You Garden Party

Please note due to the age of the gardens at St Nicholas Church, some paving stones may be uneven/level and may be difficult for wheelchair users or those that require a level surface. Activity will be located at locations where accessibility is best, but please speak to a member of the team if something is not accessible to you.

Medication

Drugs which are for medical purposes are permitted on the site but Pride in Liverpool advises that these should be in their original packaging with your name if prescribed to avoid any issues identifying these.

Drinks/Water

Un-opened soft drinks are permitted into the event zone but these should still be sealed. Unfortunately, Pride in Liverpool cannot permit opened, un-labelled or alcoholic drinks. Free water is available on request from entry points.

Strobe Lighting/Special Effects

No strobe lighting is used as part of any of the event site stages or entertainment.

Assistance Dogs

All dogs are welcome in all zones of Pride in Liverpool. People are advised to ask at the entrances of sites for water for your dog if you need it.

Please check with private events their policy on dogs.

PPE Provided

At each entrance to the zones, ear plugs, face masks and hand sanitiser are available for free.
