Southport Pleasureland has announced it will be closed for one day this weekend over "bad weather" concerns.

The attraction posted on its Facebook page on Friday, July 21, warning customers that it will be closed on Saturday, July 22, due to bad weather being forecasted. They added the closure will be in place for the "comfort and safety" of guests.

The post read: "Due to bad weather forecasted for the 22nd July 2023 (tomorrow), we have taken the decision to close the park on this day for guest comfort and safety. Those who have booked tickets, please see our Rain Check policy on our website for more information.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your understanding."

One social media user asked underneath the post if the theme park would be open again on Sunday, July 23, to which the resort replied "we are due to be open as usual on Sunday".

The Met Office has said rain will be "persistent" on Saturday in Southport, with downpours being heavy at times. There is due to be a fresh breeze developing in the day, but humidity will build into the evening giving a maximum temperature of 18 degrees.

People who have already bought tickets for Southport Pleasureland will be able to re-book or visit on another day to enjoy rides in the sunshine.

The attractions website reads: "Guests who have pre-booked tickets for a date impacted by a closure of the park will automatically receive an email from us as soon as the decision not to open the park is taken. The email will provide all the details you need to help you rebook for another day."
