Friends name man killed in horror crash as ‘great dad of two’

A man who died after being involved in a crash in Netherton has been named by friends as Vinny.

Tributes have been left at the scene of the incident on Northern Perimeter Road, where the orange Honda motorbike rider, in his 40s, was involved in an incident involving a red Vauxhall Astra. One of the notes left on a bunch of flowers reads: "To my best mate Vin, miss you all the world mate.

"We will always be the Grant brothers. Save me a seat up there. Love Wayne, Ged and Neil." Another reads: "To my best friend, I'm devastated beyond words that this has happened.

"I will cherish our memories we have forever. RIP Vin. Love from Spinny and family." On the ECHO Facebook page, tributes have also flooded in for Vinny.

Nicole Halewood said: "Thinking of your dad and your two babies. What a great man you was." Kirsty Louise Taylor added: "R.I.P Vinny ride freely up there! Heart and thoughts with his family and friends."

A third commented: "So sad, God bless his family, they must be devastated. Rest in heavenly peace." . Emergency services were called to the scene on Northern Perimeter Road, at around 11.10pm on Wednesday, July 19.

The man was pronounced dead at the the scene. Two men, aged 25 and 22 , were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit.

Police cordon off the Northern Perimeter Road

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "We have launched an investigation following the death of a man in a road traffic collision last night. His next-of-kin have been informed, and our specially trained officers are supporting them at this extremely difficult time and our thoughts are very much with them.
"Although we have made two arrests in connection with the collision, we urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage, including information or footage prior to the collision, which will assist in the investigation to please get in touch.

"Road closures are in place along Northern Perimeter Road while collision investigation work is carried out. We ask motorists to avoid the area today, thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident.
