A fight broke out at a Wirral pub which was hosting the wake of a funeral.

The funeral was allegedly that of Pamela McGregor, the aunty of former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, Conor McGregor. The Irish professional mixed martial artist posted pictures on his social media inside the venue, with family and friends with the caption "Pamela McGregor. Woah" and the praying hands emoji.

The 35-year-old was also spotted leaving the The Saddle Club, on Roman Road, Prenton. A video was posted online showing the UFC superstar hurrying into a black Range Rover with security, on Tuesday, July 18, as fans waited outside in the car park.

Commentary over the clip is heard with people claiming there's been "beef" and "murder" and that someone has had a "straightener." Merseyside police have now confirmed they were called to an incident at the venue.

A spokesperson told the ECHO: "We were called to The Saddle pub in Prenton, Wirral, at 7.50pm last night, Tuesday 18th July, to reports of an altercation.

"Officers attended the pub and spoke to a number of people. Further enquiries are being carried out to establish what has taken place but at this stage no complaints have been made and nobody has been arrested."

The news comes after McGregor posted a bizarre voice note on Twitter which has now been deleted. In the audio clip, he puts on a Liverpudlian accent and says: "Murder, murder, everybody out. Scousers on the golly. Birkenhead is McGregor's"

The voice note appears to be referencing the video circulating on social media of him leaving the pub. Last month, Conor's dad Tony announced the sad news on social media that his sister Pamela had passed away.

Posting a picture of himself with his sister, Tony wrote: "It is with deep regret that I announce the death of my beloved sister Pamela, 25/06/23. Rest in Peace."

Fans have rushed to express their condolences to Conor on social media, with Denise Freeman commenting: "Prayers to your family. Sorry for your loss and the rude ridicule and lack of humanity of some of the people on this thread. May your family find peace with the loss of your Aunt."

Another, Louisa Bradley said: "Condolences to your family Conor McGregor regarding your Aunty Pamela."
