This was the moment a BMW ploughed into a shop, destroying everything in its path.

Malcolm Hunt, who owns Kranzle Aquaspray, was alerted that something had happened to his store at Causeway Park on Central Road, Warrington via his alarm and CCTV system. When he checked the footage he "felt a rush to get there".

The clip shows the car ploughing through the store and causing huge damage in its wake. Dust, products and shop interior can be seen flying around as the BMW crashes through.

In the video the BMW's hazards can be seen flashing and dust then fills the room. Speaking to the ECHO, Malcolm, who started his business in 2006, said he thought it was a "ram raid" at first.

He said: "I thought it was a ram raid. I rang the police and their response was awesome, they arrived probably less than two to three minutes. They stayed there also all night until it was secured."

Malcolm said he has "potentially lost everything" he and his team had worked for. He said he felt panic and anger and a "rush to get there". He also said the car had remained in the shop for four weeks as they waited for the clean up, insurance and contractors to rebuild.

He said: "We had to try work from the back workshop, not ideal but must be done."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed a 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

In a statement a spokesperson for the force said: "At 12.59am on June 10 police were called to a collision on Causeway Park, Central Road, Latchford. A car had collided with the front of a shop causing substantial damage.

"A 27-year-old man was located and arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving, criminal damage and failing to stop at a collision. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
