Live updates as police cordon off house after suspected fire

Police have cordoned off an area near a house in Huyton this morning.

Officers are at the scene, on Huyton House Road, near to a property that looks to have been fire-damaged.

The house has smashed front windows and black burn marks on the pebbledash walls.

The ECHO has contacted Merseyside police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service for more information on the incident.

Joseph Holland's funeral today

The funeral of Joseph Holland will take place today.

The 25-year-old, from Huyton, was found dead by police at an address on Huyton House Road after they were called to reports of a concern for safety. It was later confirmed that he died after being stabbed in the chest.

Floral tributes still remain outside the cordon in place today.

Second crime scene in a month

ECHO reporter Paddy Edrich is at the scene and said people appear to be "openly shocked."

Less than a month ago, a police scene was put in place in the same area, after a man was stabbed to death.

Joseph Holland, 25, died at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

James Preston, 21, from Huyton, has been charged with Mr Holland's murder on Thursday, June 8.

Visible damage to a house

There is considerable damage to the front of a house on Huyton House Road.

The downstairs front window has been smashed and the exterior of the house has been blackened by the suspected fire.

Floral tributes

Floral tributes can be seen on a patch of grass just outside the cordon.

The tributes have been left for Joseph Holland, who died after being stabbed in the chest on June 8, at a property on Huyton House Road.

The 25-year-old, from Huyton, was found dead by police at the scene after they were called to reports for concern for safety.

In a short tribute, the family said: "No words could ever describe the loss of our beautiful son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was loved by everybody."

James Preston, 21, has been charged with the murder of Mr Holland.

Three men from Huyton, aged 28, 25 and 36, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
