9 adorable cats looking for new homes in Merseyside

BySpotted UK

Dec 3, 2023

There are many cats in Merseyside currently up for adoption.

Rescue charities across the region are looking for households willing to open their homes, and their hearts, to a feline friend. With many cats currently up for adoption, some have been waiting too long for their forever home.

Some cats are being abandoned in cat carriers far from their homes and being found as strays as rescue centres say they are seeing unprecedented demand. From abandoned pets that were saved by the public to strays found on the streets, here we have put together a list of nine cats that are up for adoption in Merseyside, and where to find them.

At Freshfields you will find

Lola

Lola

This stunning little girl has only recently come in after she was unhappy living in her home with young children. Before her last home she had a difficult experience where she wasn't treated well by the children she lived with.

Lola is looking for a home with children age eight and upwards, so long as they are respectful of her boundaries.
Skippy

Skippy

Skippy's elderly owner unfortunately fell ill and was unable to care for him any longer. Skippy is a very affectionate cat who adores attention so much that he drools out of pure happiness when getting love and strokes!
Skippy has some mild hair loss and weight loss that may just be due to over grooming and his older age, or may be due to a mild health condition that is common for his age. Because of this he will be seeing an onsite vet soon to discuss any necessary testing.

Fleur

Fleur

Fleur aka Betty Boop was brought in as a stray back in June, by a kind member of the public who had been feeding her in order to gain her trust. She was very thin, and completely exhausted from her life on the streets.

She wasn't microchipped no-one came forward to claim her. She's a house cat and needs to be the only pet in the home. She is on a special diet for her kidneys, and is physically well and healthy.

Harley

Harley

Harley was found wondering around Freshfields' grounds eating what he could find out of the skip in the rubbish. He was not microchipped and sadly no owner came forward.

It is possible that poor Harley was dumped in the area, but we don't know exactly how Harley ended up here. He is a truly gentle boy who is very vocal and loves a chat with his human companions. He enjoys getting on any human lap presented to him and blissfully accepts all the strokes and chin scratches that come his way.
If you feel you can offer any of cats a loving home, please send an application form online. Or you can ring Freshfields if you would like more information on 0151 931 1604

Over at the RSPCA:

Wednesday

Wednesday

Wednesday is currently at the Warrington RSPCA branch and is aged around three to six months old. Wednesday was let down by a previous family when extremely young which resulted in her becoming very poorly with cat flu, something my new family need to be aware off.

She could possibly live with another cat and children of secondary school age but could not be rehomed with a dog. More about Wednesday can be found here.

Indigo and Iris

Indigo and Iris

Also at the Warrington, Halton & St Helens Animal Centre are best friends Indigo and Iris, and are looking to be rehomed together.

Sadly, they arrived into the care of RSPCA having been removed from a multi-cat household where there were just too many cats in the home. Because of this they are looking for an adult only home as the only pets. More about them can be found here.

Thomas and Hattie

Thomas and Hattie

Thomas and Hattie are at the Wirral and Chester branch and are aged around two years old. They have not had the best start in life but have come a long way since.

They would prefer to be rehomed together and can live with children and potentially another dog. More about them can be found here.
