Birkenhead has changed significantly over the years, with once adored shops no longer existing and the town’s roads and the buildings that line it looking very different.
The ECHO has uncovered 18 brilliant photos that perfectly capture Birkenhead between the 1960s and 1990s. They show how life in the Wirral town has changed and capture what locals and visitors got up to on a daily basis.
The below images include The Beatles’ iconic performance at The Majestic Ballroom in 1963 that saw fans queue up all night for tickets. Other photos show vintage cars on the town’s streets and roads, and the lost shops that once stood in the Grange Precinct shopping centre.
